This Privacy Policy explains how Popmodoro ("we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Popmodoro mobile application ("the App") on iOS and Android.
Popmodoro is a local-first focus timer application. Your timer history, settings, and progress are stored on your device. We do not operate user accounts, and you do not need to sign in to use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Stored on Your Device
The following information is created through your use of the App and is stored locally on your device only:
- Focus and break session history (timestamps and duration)
- App settings (focus length, break length, theme, sound preferences)
- Onboarding completion status
This information is not transmitted to us and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its storage.
1.2 Information Collected by Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, which may collect information directly from your device under their own privacy policies.
Google AdMob (Advertising)
AdMob is used to display advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect:
- Approximate location derived from IP address
- Device identifiers, including the advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA)
- Device model and operating system information
- Advertising interaction events such as impressions and clicks
The App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent where required:
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other consent jurisdictions, you will see a consent form on the first launch (and any time consent needs to be refreshed) asking whether AdMob may use your data to show personalized ads.
- On iOS, the App also presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt to ask permission to access the advertising identifier.
- If you grant permission, ads may be personalized using your device identifier and approximate location.
- This may include retargeting (also called remarketing): showing you ads based on your activity in other apps and on websites, and sharing your advertising identifier with advertising partners for this purpose.
- If you decline, ads will be non-personalized (selected based on contextual signals only).

Google Firebase Analytics
Firebase Analytics helps us understand how the App is used and improve its functionality. Information may include:
- Device model and operating system version
- App version
- Language and country
- App opens and session activity
- In-app navigation and feature usage
Google Firebase Crashlytics
Crashlytics helps us identify and fix technical issues. Information may include:
- Crash reports and stack traces
- Device model and operating system version
- App state at the time of a crash

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Contacts
- Photos
- Calendar information
- Microphone recordings
- Camera images
- Precise location data
- Health information
- Financial information
The App does not provide account registration, login functionality, or social-network integration.
2. How We Use Information
The information described above is used to:
- Display advertisements within the App, including personalized advertisements where you have granted consent
- Measure advertising performance and prevent ad fraud
- Understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the App
- Diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues
We do not sell your personal information for money. Where you have consented, we share your advertising identifier and related advertising data with advertising partners to deliver personalized and cross-context (retargeting) advertising. You can withdraw consent or opt out at any time through the consent form, Apple's App Tracking Transparency settings, or your device's advertising settings.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where required by applicable laws such as the GDPR, we process information as follows:
- For personalized advertising, on the basis of your consent (collected via the UMP / App Tracking Transparency prompts described above). You can withdraw consent at any time through your device's advertising-identifier settings or by re-triggering the consent form from Settings.
- For non-personalized advertising, analytics, and crash diagnostics, on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining, securing, and improving the App.
4. Data Retention
- On-device data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its storage.
- Firebase Analytics data may be retained for up to 14 months, subject to Google's settings and policies.
- Crashlytics data may be retained according to Google's standard retention practices.
- AdMob data is retained according to Google's advertising data retention policies.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, including under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and similar privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Access personal information
- Request correction or deletion
- Object to certain processing activities
- Withdraw consent where applicable
Because Popmodoro does not maintain user accounts and does not directly store personal information on our servers, deleting the App or clearing its storage is generally sufficient to remove locally stored data.
For information processed by Google services, you may also contact Google through the privacy resources listed above. You can reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads through your device's system settings at any time.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us.
7. International Data Transfers
Because the App uses Google services, information processed by those services may be transferred to and stored in countries outside your own, including the United States.
Google maintains its own safeguards and compliance mechanisms for international data transfers.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
